Chimera, "The Deathless Plague"
"Brotherhood, strength, and fortitude...in the face of the angry night"
The faction known as the Chimera, or alternately as the "Deathless Plague" or the "Angry Night" , are not the "true" Chimera. No, that is a unseen and powerful space race that controls the entire operation. The Chimera used in this tournament are the weaponized viral form of this species, having taken over much of the human race through this method.
The Pure Chimera were the original inhabitants of Earth, and they are now returning to their homeland, destroying much of the human race that has evolved since. The Chimera encountered on Earth are not the natural form of the species, being created by fusing Human and Chimera DNA through the use of a virus-like bio-weapon In this tournament they conquer at the behest of their distant and mysterious Chimera-like overlords converting more and more species into their corrupted cause.
RECONNAISSANCE
It is known that the Chimera possess Recon Drones and have scouted in the past, however for the most part the Chimera are an EXTREMELY aggressive species, with perhaps the most subtlety I have seen of them being used in 1920s Russia, where they slowly picked off Siberian Tribes before messing with the Russian Army, and in 1940s where they fully conquered Russia before launching a giant blitz. However most of the time the Chimera are quick and sudden, using sudden and brutal blitzkrieg tactics that would make the Germans jealous and never letting up in their assaults. The Chimera are just naturally the aggressors, and thus admittedly suffer in detailed Recon. INFANTRY:
Name: Hybrid
Weapon Type: Pulse Rifle
Armor Type: Mostly Unarmored
Mobility: 5.5 stated to be above humans
Training: 5 (instinctual)
Max Range: Sniper Range
Preferred Range: Assault Rifle
Classification: Standard Grunt, specialists.
--Basic Description:
Created from human hosts, the Hybrid is the most common enemy seen in the battlefield. They are several inches taller than the average human being, are highly agile, and possess remarkable strength. Overall they are a savage enemy, but are also keen and tenacious. Hybrids quickly learn the methods of their adversaries. They had already displayed expertise in British Army tactics by the time of Resistance: Fall of Man. Beyond their adaptive nature, the most obvious attribute of Hybrids is their sheer numbers. Hybrids have overwhelmed humans on every battlefield since the Chimeran invasion first reached the United Kingdom.
--Loadout:
The Hybrids primarily use one weapon and a unique brand of grenades, however they can be equipped with quite a few other weapons listed in special.
-Ranged
--Bullseye:
It is the main firearm used by Chimeran Hybrid foot soldiers and therefore one of the most commonly seen weapon throughout the Resistance series. It is a energy shooting sub-machine gun that holds (as of Resistance 3) a clip size of 50 rounds for a total of 250 per Hybrid. It is very effective at short and medium range, and its fast rate-of-fire and large magazine size makes it ideal for close quarters combat; however, it tends to lose accuracy and power beyond short range. Its rounds can be upgraded to explode on contact, in addition to the energy damage for better killing power. Now why is it called by "Bullseye" you may ask? Because it possesses a secondary firing mechanism, that operates independently of the main ammunition, that allows them to "tag" with a bullet that sticks to them. The tag acts as a tracking beacon for the primary fire bullets and unless something physical is in the way, the bullets will not miss.
--Hedgehog Grenade:
The "Hedgehog Grenade" is a Chimeran anti-personnel
weapon - throw it like an ordinary hand grenade. But
once it lands the Hedgehog springs up and expands into
a cluster of spines. As it detonates the Hedgehog fires i
ts spines in all directions - these things'll shred
through the thickest armor! And they're extremely
lethal in confined spaces--so aviod using them in
situations where people could be harmed. In Resistance 3 if it is thrown on the ground and there is no enemies nearby, it will deploy as a anti-personnel mine, activating the next time someone gets close.
- Melee: The Chimera have far superior strength and ferocity then ordinary humans, even on the basic level, and will easily overpower an ordinary human soldier. Also from the looks of it they do have sharp looking teeth...
- Defense: Other then their natural durability, not much. Some are armored with helmets and light body armor though. Oh, and they have low-scale regeneration abilities.
-Special: Variants/additional weapons
--Sniper Hybrids are Hybrids armed with Deadeyes and can hide themselves with a cloaking ability while scanning the environment with laser sights. It has been engineered to remain calm and patient, resulting in a Hybrid whose accuracy is greatly increased over those of its brethren. However a more canny foe can potentially identify a position by its laser sight.
---Deadeye :
The Deadeye is a Chimeran sniper rifle that has a powerful zoom scope and high-velocity rounds, making this an effective weapon at extremely long range.ts primary fire is a single supersonic blast of energy with pinpoint accuracy. Its secondary fire is a Proton Charge that disintegrates most enemies with a single shot, but it is hard to shoot. The charged shot must be charged up and targeted on the target, while if aimed correctly, is even capable of penetrating through multiple targets or through walls. Deadeyes carry a 5 round magazine, very long range, with most Sniper Hybrids carrying 25 rounds total .
--Wildfire Hybrids:
Wildfire Hybrids are the same as normal Hybrids except they have possess more muscles as they have to carry the heavy Wildfire rocket launcher. They will place themselves at a distance from their enemies so they can take them out easily with their Wildfires.
---Wildfire Missile Launchers:
--Scout Hybrids:
" Okay, I'll be honest. Scout Hybrids scare the hell out of
me. The first thing you notice is a laser beam and or a
red dot. And, if the dot is on your chest, you'll be dead
a fraction of a second later.
But, if you're one of the lucky ones, run, duck, or back
away, Then once you have some cover look for the
laser beam and trace it back to its source. Once you
have the Scout located shot it with your Hunter or
Sixeye. But be careful, because while you're stalking it,
another Scout may be after you."
Essentially Chimera designated for a scouting role, they have the following weapon.
---Sixeye: Another Chimeran Sniper Rifle, this comes with two modes. The first is a high velocity, armorer piercing round which will instantly shred most organic foes. The second is a Burr Charge which automatically hits a target, beeps for a little bit, and then explodes. The six-eye is a single shot sniper rifle, with scouts typically carrying ten clips.
--Gray Jacks:
According to the intel in Resistance: Fall of Man, the Gray Jack's description implies that Hybrids grow as they age, as their limbs gradually elongating. This increased size places tremendous strain on their cooling units over time, which are not designed to cool them at this size, and their high metabolic rate begins to cook the creatures from the inside-out. Gray Jacks are the final stage of this process and are near-death, resulting in a necrotic appearance and a characteristic odor of decaying flesh. Gray jacks attack with their claws, which are highly toxic and prone to infection. However the Chimera do not like to use this breed on the front lines, and they will only really appear in close quarts settings as the enemy begins to assault the chimera.
--Hardfang: (technically not Hybrid, but similar enough to put here)
The conversion process of this sub strain have been skewed in favor of heightening the creatures aggressiveness. This had the added effect of removing any form of self-preservation instinct. As such, the Hardfangs are often seen rushing into combat where they make use of their Arc Charger to strike at any enemy targets present. As the screenshot shows they wear armor, unlike many Hybrids.
---Arch Charger
The Arc Charger is a Chimeran weapon unlike anything else in their arsenal. Instead of firing projectiles, it actually fires a particle beam which can be transferred through objects.
The weapon itself is used by Hardfangs, who are known for rushing their opponents. This is due to the Arc Charger's relatively short range. Taking them out first should be a priority as they can cause vast amounts of damage in a short space of time.
The difference between the primary and secondary fire is to do with the beam's concentration. The secondary fire fires a much more powerful blast, which can travel through objects, whereas the primary fire is much weaker, but has a much faster rate of fire
-Additional Factors:
---Chimera Physiology: Their metabolism is approximately twelve times that of a normal human being, granting them extraordinary regeneration abilities, speed, and strength. The side effect of this trait is that their bodies tend to generate large amounts of heat, which can literally cook them from the inside out. Chimera are in general faster, stronger and more ferocious then humans (or whatever species they infected).
-- Essential Equipment: Coolants: Heat stacks are essential for the long-term survival of Chimeran strains, as they are needed to regulate body temperature given to the high metabolism rate the Chimera possess that could literally cook a Chimera from inside out. These can be targeted by enemies with precise accuracy, making it a weakness. However Daedalus did manipulate Chimeran DNA to limit the need of these.
--Ranking System: The Daedalus introduced a ranking and reform system into the Chimera Horde to allow better cohesion. He did this for many sub-species. Primarchs are Hybrid individuals that, in addition to being tougher and better armored then regular Hybrids, leads 40 of them. Overseers lead 12 Primarchs,in addition to wielding weaponry above those seen in this unit profile (meaning they can wield weapons from anywhere else on this overall profile) and are even tougher. They seem to have a degree of telepathic control over their underlings, or at least function somewhat as a network.
-- This will be the most common of the Chimera Breeds.
Name: Crawler*
*listed here since I do not know where else to put them
Weapon Type: Body Hijack
Armor Type: None
Mobility: 8.8 (flying insects)
Training: 5
Max Range: Physical Contact
Preferred Range: Physical Contact
Classification: Infection Vector
--Basic Description:
Crawlers are insect-like creatures that serve as vectors that transmit the Chimeran Virus. The strain is capable of limited flight, but they are often deployed by spire missiles, though they are kept in conversion centers and sent into holding pens where uninfected prisoners are kept. Upon locating their target, the Crawlers begin to penetrate the victim's body, usually through the airway passages of the mouth or the nose. Once this has been accomplished, they begin to inject the Chimeran virus throughout the body; after this process is completed, the Crawlers decompose into the host's body and complete the infection stage. After the Crawlers has merged into the host, who then abruptly falls into a coma, the virus begins the process of an inexorable conversion of the host into a Chimeran creature.
The Crawlers commonly attack in huge swarms to overrun the enemy. Added with their small size, this is a perfect infection strategy.
--Loadout:
- Ranged: None
- Melee: The Crawler, which is the size of a cicada, will attempt to crawl and infect a person USUALLY by entering through the nose or mouth where it will begin the conversion process(there have been instances where it has clearly entered the body through other means, but these two entrances are the most common). Immediately after entering the host is rendered unconscious.
- Defense: Other then being really small and being hard to hit none.
-Special: Variants, Spire Missile
---The Chimera have prepared this strain for two possible eventualities.
If the Crawler cannot find a suitable host it will instead focus on turning into a new creature called the Leaper. In the process of transforming into a Leaper, a Crawler begins a search for a means of sustenance whether it is through human or animal corpses. Once they have gorged themselves, the Crawler transforms into a Leaper Pod which is a protective pupae state. After which, the Leaper is spawned once the pod reaches maturity. Young Leapers are voracious creatures that attack their foes with their claws and teeth. While easily dispatched at range, the Leapers are deadly when they are encountered in large numbers. Before making an attack, Leapers are known to make an ear splitting scream which has been known to terrify their foes. They can easily crawl along walls and rooftops. Toward the end of their life, Leapers turn into Rollers.
--Queen Leaper: A Queen Leaper is an advanced species of Leaper . They are at least 3 times the size of a normal leaper. They usually control an extremely large amount of leapers, and are very agile for a creature of their size. Queen Leapers are presumably the Primarch of Overseer command unit for the Leapers. ----Rollers : As a Leaper ages, its body begins to break down, and increasingly produces corrosive chemicals as it nears death and becomes a Roller. As a Roller, the creature uses this apparent shortcoming to its advanced by spraying this acidic bile from its mouth, blinding opponents before the creature moves in for a finishing attack using its claws and teeth. Swarms of Rollers can rip through troop formations in minutes. *NOTE* in later games this concept was merged with the Leaper, though it could be possible later games only include older variants.
But wait, what if the enemy manages to develop a counter measure to phase out the Crawlers completely? In that case they will evolve en-masse instead of alone, into giant Swarms. These giant swarms of Locust (or possibly one giant Swarm) tear into opponents with their teeth in a giant piranha like frenzy. Due to eating an abundant source of metal, the Swarm's exoskeleton is immune to regular firearms. However, give to its metallic exoskeleton, the Swarm is highly electrically conductive and therefore is vulnerable to electricity.
-When the Chimera deploy Crawlers they usually do so through Spire Missiles, which upon crashing into the ground deploy literally thousands of them. In this way the Chimera can mass infect their victims.
--Additional Factors:
--According to Rachel Parker the crawlers can infect and permanently turn humans into Chimera without the aid of Conversion Centers, however these drastically speed up the Process.
--Though rare, Crawlers can be used alongside Spinners and have been on at least one occasion.
--Presumably these are one of the easiest Chimera to produce.
--Naturally the Crawler is rather weak in small numbers, and is only useful in mass.
--Can be mass produced easily
Weapon Type: Tooth
Armor Type: None
Mobility: 8 Spider like
Training: 5
Max Range: Biting Range
Preferred Range: Biting Range
Classification: Conversion Vector
--Basic Description:
Spinners are a new Chimeran strain added to Resistance 2. They are rather insectoid in appearence and they also appear to have a hive type structure in relation to the Mother Spinner appearing as a "Queen" Spinner.
Initially Crawlers were the Chimera's choice of infecting humans, but since their evolution, Spinners have risen up to take on the task. Spinners are still introduced to areas in the same fashion by the use of however, following the destruction of the Carriers, Spinners speed up the conversion process and also negated the need for conversion centers As the name implies, they spin cocoons around their victims and they are converted into Grims.
--Loadout:
- Ranged: Webbing : From their abdomen Spinners shoot webbing at their foes, which rapidly hardens. - Melee: . It is mentioned that Spinners are apparently capable of stinging, and that they are equipped with fangs and hollow barbs through which chemicals can be injected into victims, resulting in uncontrollable thrashing followed by incapitation and infection. They are also supposed to be stupidly strong for cat-sized organisms, with each individual being capable of dragging off humans by themselves and Henry Stillman describes a group of them overturning a moving truck.
- Defense: None
-Special: Conversion: Spinners spin their webs around victims whereupon they then manipulate the conversion process.
Like the Crawler, these can be deployed via Seeker Missiles.
Like the Crawler, these can be deployed via Seeker Missiles.
--Additional Factors:
- Rare...initially: A key point about these creatures is that they were developed as a result of the death of the Carrier strain (see support) and crawlers being phased out as a result, to be sort of mobile conversion centers. Thus while they may be present from the beginning they will only be massed should the opponent develop a counter measure to those strains.
Weapon Type: Claws
Armor Type: None
Mobility: 5
Training: 5
Max Range: 50 feet (debris)
Preferred Range: Hand to Hand
Classification: Swarming Melee unit
--Basic Description:
This bloodthristy creature can be found ambling about in towns and cities across the
world. Once humans, it has now turned feral from exposure to the Chimera virus. I t
o ften travels in mobs of other Grims and Leeches, and will stop at nothing to find and
devour human flesh.
--Loadout:
- Ranged: Throwing Debris : At a distance the Grim will pick of pieces of Debris, rocks and flaming objects and throw them. Better then nothing I suppose.
- Melee: In melee the Grim uses its great strength, claws and agility to physically rip foes limb from limb. That and their strategy of swarming foes aids them in reducing a heavily armed solider to red stains in mere moments.
- Defense: Like all Chimera, they possess enhanced durability and low-mid scale regeneration. Grims can survive having limbs blown off and continue attacking foes with the same ferocity as before.
-Special: Variants:
The Alpha Grim strain are larger, stronger, brighter in appearance than normal Grims, and have a very strong resemblance to the Gray Jacks from Resistance: Fall of Man. The cocoons of Alpha Grims are twice as big as regular Grim cocoons and look brighter in appearance.
--Judging by the Brutality DLC pack, there is apparently a odd Grim ("Fire Grim") that can tolerate being set on fire for a long time and can run at enemies to set them on fire, as well as throw fire projectiles.
--Leeches: :
Leeches pulse with highly toxic and explosive blood. Their sole purpose is to kill their prey by rushing at them in a suicidal run and self-explode on contact. Their thin hides make them easy to take down with any standard firearm; however, they can sprint across great distances at a rapid pace, which makes shooting them at close range a deadly proposition. Gunfire or any kind of damages to Leeches will cause them to release chemically explosive cysts growing on their body. Upon death the cysts will proliferate on a Leech's body and become an active, biological landmine.
---Amazingly there is a sub,sub-category called Frost Leeches. These special Leeches appear in the Resistance 3 Brutality DLC Pack. They have a white misty haze to their cysts, more of a light white colour and when detonated they freeze other enemies around them.
--Additional Factors:
--Weakness: Individually the Grim is not much of a threat, and as you can tell really sucks at range. However they compensate for that by traveling in large swarms.
---Chimera Physiology: See Hybrid. Weapon Type: Sniper, Energy Rifles
Armor Type: Light Body Armor
Mobility: 8.3

Preferred Range: Assault Rifle
Classification: Mobile Hybrid
--Basic Description:
Longlegs are a strain of Chimera bears a striking resemblance to the Hybrid, but supports genetically and mechanically enhanced elongated legs (hence its namesake) which allows it to leap at greater heights and distances. This allows it to rain down gunfire from above. They are very similar in function to the Slipskull. Longlegs also have cooling systems that are able to flap like wings.
--Loadout:
- Ranged: Bullseye: See Hybrid

- Defense: See Hybrid
-Special:
These Longlegs are armed with Deadeyes (see Hybrid) and are similar to Sniper Hybrids. Unlike the latter though, these Chimera do not cloak themselves. However, this makes them no less of a threat, as they can move quickly from sniper perches. Their quick movement allows them to attack with brutal efficiency from unexpected positions as well from long range.
As stated above they are excellent leapers, even being able to leap onto fixed positions on walls of buildings.

-Chimeran Physiology: See Hybrid
Name: Slipskull
Weapon Type: Energy Rifle
Armor Type: Unarmored
Mobility: 8
Training: 5
Max Range: Assault Rifle
Preferred Range: Assault Rifle
Classification: Raider
--Basic Description:
Slipskulls are quite unlike the majority of the Chimeran forces, for the simple reason that they don't like to attack head on. They are much more discreet with their attacks and like to take pot shots while constantly jumping around everywhere as opposed to making themselves visible and imposing.
--Loadout:
- Ranged: Reaper Carbines:
The Reaper is a Chimeran weapon, which is used by Slipskulls. Its characteristic red beam is a surefire way to tell that they are present, as this is the Reaper's locking on system. Once the target is locked, the bullets will auto-aim, ensuring that they always hit if the Slipskull is aiming in the enemies general direction.
The Reaper is acclaimed to be the best weapon in the game, hence why it was excluded from the online multiplayer mode. Not only does it have extreme range, but it fires approx 28 bullets a second, all of which automatically aim for the opponents head if they're inside the red crosshair. The only disadvantage is that there is rarely any ammo for the gun and since its entire ammo reserve can be used up in under 30 seconds, it's a prize possession that should only come out when the times are hard, or some fun needs to be had. Each Reaper clip carries 50 rounds, with each slipskull carrying 650 total rounds.
- Melee: See Hybrid
- Defense: None other then Regeneration, natural durability.
-Special:
Like the Longleg, it is a phenomenal leaper.

Name: Drones
*Note this category can be sub-divided between infantry and support.
Weapon Type: Varies
Armor Type: Varies
Mobility: 9 (technically, since they fly)
Training: 3-5
Max Range: Assault Rifle
Preferred Range: Sub-machine gun range?
Classification: Infantry Support/Hunters
--Basic Description:
This category refers to a variety of sub-types of Drones that the Chimera are known to deploy en masse alongside their forces.
--Loadout: Variants:
-Attack Drone:
The Attack Drones are large, heavily armed and armored, and are protected by a type of force-field. Attack Drones are armed with two weapons: a single barreled Bullseye look-alike and a triple barreled mini-rocket launcher. The mini-rockets are equipped with a sabot that can penetrate organic tissue and hard materials before exploding.
- Hunter Drone:
The Hunter Drone is much more advanced than its scouting predecessor, the Patrol Drones. Its weaponry however is much the same although much more deadly. They tend to appear in no more than groups of two or three at a time, but they shouldn't be totally underestimated.
Their armour is considerably stronger than that of a Patrol Drone, enabling them to soak up much more punishment. They fire a weapon similar to the Bullseye.
One rather disadvantageous problem for the Hunter Drone is its rather bulky size.
- Patrol Drone:
The Patrol Drone is, as the name suggests, purely for patrol duties. Their light armour and nimble speed make them excellent scouts. They tend to swarm their enemies in rather large numbers and have energy weapons similar to that discharged by the Bullseye.
- Recon Drone:
Small unmanned and unarmed but fast, they drones are meant purely for scouting.
- Shield Drone:
Shield Drones act as support units for Chimeran infantry, in which they create an invincible force-shield by beaming an energy field that surrounds a Chimera, although they seem to only support Hybrids, Ravagers, and Steelheads. However, Shield Drones are vulnerable and can be destroyed in order to break their support on Chimeran enemies.
- Shock Drones:
Shock Drones serve as small but relentless hunters. They typically move in groups, and
tend to scout the areas around larger mechanical hunters, such as the Goliath. Once a
Shock Drone has discovered a target, it will lock on and continue to attack until
destroyed. They weild a weapon similar to the Arc Charger.
Essentially they just aid Chimera workers (discussed later) and possess small interface beams.
-All are vulnerable to EMP weaponry.
-Can be factored into Support or Infantry depending on your fancy.
MISC UNITS:
Below are some units that, while not common enough to warrant their own full profiles, are nevertheless a part of the Chimera army.
Boilers:
Boilers have a rather human appearance with the exception of an extremely overgrown head in a way that resembles to Daedalus. They also seem to have had their hands and feet mutated to resemble tentacles. Boilers attack by running up to the enemy and self-destructing, unleashing a deadly Kinetic wave.
Hags:
These creatures are similar to Boilers. They float around the area however
and instead of exploding their heads, they shoot deadly energy from them. They also
possess shields which must be lowered to kill the creature. Both the Hag and Boiler are made from human females. Howlers:
Their appearance is similar to that of a dog's and they attack by either trying to bite their enemy or maul them using their claws. Little information is available about the Howler, and so it is unknown in exactly how these canine creatures are created due to their non-humanoid appearance. However they could of been bred by the Chimera like the Widowmaker.
Howlers are seen as being used as a weapon to create fear among human forces, their calls and howls strike fear deep into the enemy's heart.
Mauler:
Howlers are seen as being used as a weapon to create fear among human forces, their calls and howls strike fear deep into the enemy's heart.
Mauler:
Though never encountered in game, a description of this creature has been posted on the website. The Mauler is described as very large, and usually being used as a beast of burden to carry equipment for the Chimera, but is able to shoot super-heated saliva, similar to Napalm. It can also cough up a pod which shoots out sticky tendril appendages. These tendrils can infect anything they touch.
Water Borne:
Should the planet have significant bodies of water, the following varieties may be fielded.
Fury:

Fury:
Essentially giant mutated fish, these creatures are famed for both their ferocity and deadly bite.
Kraken:
Kraken:
The Kraken is a large aquatic creature with four tentacles, each tipped with mechanical drills that can split into razor-claws. These won't be too common, but can easily make a difference in the water.
SIREN
Sirens have the ability to create telekinetic blasts to attack their enemies, and are able to be killed by gunfire, however can only be killed underwater with energy weapons. Sirens also appear to be mutated exclusively from female humans, and can apparently put victims in a hypnotic trance.

Classification: Front Line Commando/ Elite Guard
Basic Description:
Advanced Hybrids are much more durable than traditional Hybrids. They stand around seven feet in height and serve as elite commandos, sometimes leading even Steelheads into combat. Advanced Hybrids are also fitted with very heavy armor and eye masks, and are armed with the Bullseye Mark II. Every aspect of their physiology has been tuned to grant them extreme levels of performance. They must be outfitted with specialized cooling units to ensure their core body temperature doesn't climb uncontrollably during the heat of combat. The Hunter is a Chimeran rifle that appears in Resistance: Burning Skies, that fires semi-automatic bursts of controlled energy. The Hunter is issued to elite Chimeran Hybrids, as the weapons energy density per shot is much greater than that of a standard Bullseye rifle it serves as a fast way to eliminate hostiles. Its secondary fire is to launch a small drone, in what ever direction, which is able to fire upon hostiles using the same electric type attack as the Shock Drone. As the nature of this weapon is to pick hostiles off in a quick and clean way, the purpose of the drone is to drive targets out from cover to deliver the killing strike. Spec wise there are 12 rounds per magazine, 7 magazines typically carried and can be upgraded so that drones last longer, larger clip size, and less recoil. 3 Drones are typically carried.

Armor Type: Forcefield
Max Range: 100s of miles (telepathic control)
Proffered Range: 100s of miles
Mobility: 7 (capable of limited flight)

CLASSIFICATION: Telepathic Commanders
Basic Description:
As commanding units, Angels usually don't participate in combat. It was later discovered (after the destruction of the hub tower in London) that the Angels maintain a telepathic hive mind over the normal Chimeran strains; without the Angels and thus removing their telepathic connections, normal Chimera could simply not survive. -Ranged Weapons:
At range these Chimera shoot sharp, poisoned spikes that emit gas that spreads over the immediate area. Angels however generally don't like to fight in person, and will only use these spikes when cornered. -Melee: Based on the concept art they seem to have stabbing instruments.
-Defense: Angels can project a psionic force-field around themselves that must be drained in order to kill them. Have same Chimeran traits of durability and regeneration.
-Special :
The Angel might be capable of limited Mind Control on others, given that it tried to do so on hale but he resisted. That said Hale was infected with the Chimera virus, so its possible (i.e. likely ) that his human side merely fought off the Chimera. However what is not uncontested is that the Angel can exert control over huge groups of full-blown Chimera, which it uses to double its command strategies.
Additional Factors:
-Capable of limited flight
- Rarity: Thanks to the Daedalus's reforms, these have become much rarer then before as he replaced them mostly with the Command system. However they do apparently still exist after the European campaign, with one leading the assault on Chicago, and thus will occasionally appear in these battles.

Name: Ravager
Weapon Type: MiniGun/Atomizer
Armor Type: Heavy Body Armor
Max Range: Machine Gun
Proffered Range: Machine Gun
Mobility: 4
Training : 5
CLASSIFICATION: Field Commander
Basic Description:
The Ravager is one of the many new Chimeran troops seen in Resistance 2, and is far more intimidating than the standard Hybrid. They are very large muscular Chimera and due to their size they are capable of wielding quite potent weaponry. The generic Ravagers are equipped with a plasma type rifle and a portable shield generator attached to their arm.
Ravagers are also not afraid to charge head on towards a player in order to get into melee range where they can effectively be their most dangerous. Combine this with the fact they can use their shield during this charge and it makes them quite the predator. They are also usually together in pairs, and backed up by multiple Hybrids to make things all the more interesting.
Their armour and skin are extremely tough. However, the weight of their armor and overall size means their mobility is rather hampered.

-Ranged Weapons:
-- Atomizer:
Since Resistance 3, the Ravagers have been equipped with the devastating Atomizer, which is a devastating electricity-based Chimeran riot weapon. Its primary fire shoots out short-range electric bolts that auto-target and disintegrate nearby enemies. Its alternate fire launches a localized gravity well that damages and pulls nearby enemies and their bodies into the well. It can be upgraded so that the electrical bolts "jump" from person to person, or the gravity well explodes at the end of its duration.
--
Ravagers have been known to wield a plasma cannon (that unfortunately does not have much of a description) in conjunction with their shield .
- A few also use the Brute Minigun (described below).
-Melee: Like Hybrids except they are much bulkier and much stronger.
-Defense: Brutes do ear some armor of a unknown make in addition to being more durable and having higher regeneration.
Many Ravagers are equipped with an activated force-field that much be disabled before they can be attacked, however the Ravager is able to attack while they are firing. It also only stops projectiles from the front.
-Special : Brute Variant

Brutes are a Chimeran strain that are quite likely the direct predecessor to the Ravager, possessing all the same traits but not wielding much in the way of armor. They wield the
--Brute Minigun : This weapon is notably very large, approximately at a size length around four feet. It has several barrels that fire bursts of plasma at a very high rate, giving a beam-like blast which can rip through a living target in a couple of seconds. It is a massive weapon that is difficult to hold, and makes them somewhat unwieldy in close quarters combat. The minigun also has a targeting screen attached to the grip. Ammunition for the weapon is stored in the spherical drum at the bottom of the gun. In addition to the Brute the Ravager overseers always wield this weapon, and it is extremely dangerous on account of the damage it deals, especially in Superhuman mode.

Name: Steelhead
Weapon Type: Energy Rifle
Armor Type: Body Armor
Max Range: Assault Rifle
Proffered Range: Assault Rifle
Mobility: 5
Training : 5.5
Classification: Field Commander
Basic Description:
The Steelhead strain are easily identified for their metallic headgear they wear, hence their name. Steelheads possess heavy armor which allows them to be the forefront of any battle where they lead lower Chimeran strains in combat. They are capable, and willing, to endure any form of punishment to advance the Chimeran invasion. Steelheads stand tower than a Hybrid, though their stopped posture means they are somewhat shorter in practice. They often leading other Chimera into battle, especially Hybrids, and these are noticably more aggressive when led by a Steelhead. They are more roughly durable as a standard Hybrid, and can even survive a direct hit from an M40 grenade.
Steelheads don't necessarily seem very dangerous at first glance, but they can take a considerable amount of damage and they wield a very deadly weapon. They also aren't afraid to throw their weight around and can deal painful melee attacks if within range. This makes them one of the more deadly units in the Chimeran army.
The Steelheads use the Auger and they have devastating accuracy. If you attempt to find cover to shield you from them, good luck as they will track your movements.

Hard surfaces are unaffected, but organic tissue will be severely burned. The Auger's secondary fire deploys a small rectangular force barrier that is impervious to all weapon fire except from other Auger rounds. Enemies will suffer damage if they move through the barrier.
he Auger Mark II comes with a transparent visor which reveals the thermal signature of any enemies through walls, making the Mark II perfect for neutralizing enemies without having to guess where they are as with the previous Auger. All enemy targets within a set distance show up as shimmering green silhouettes when the Mark II is aimed carefully. Complimenting the improved offensive aspect is its force barrier, which is considerably larger in both height and width, allowing for a much better defensive position. However it only lasts for a limited time.

Name: Titan
Weapon Type: : Energy Cannon
Armor Type: Partial Body Armor
Max Range: Machine Gun
Proffered Range: Machine Gun
Mobility: 4
Training : 5
Classification: Heavy Assault Shock Troop
Basic Description:
Titans are colossal creatures and barely resemble their other Chimeran soliders due to their immense size. Their forearm is probably the size of a typically sized human and they wield a gigantic cannon. Even their roar is enough to severely damage soldiers and they should not be treated lightly.
Their main attack comes from the cannon that the carry around (See Stalker profile). It is capable of firing huge projectiles which are homing and can instantly kill even a well-armored soldier. The Titans are used as shock troops by Chimeran forces, and are often found leading the way in major attacks. Their size and strength enable them to wield extremely heavy weaponry normally found mounted on vehicles or strategic defenses, such as Stalker heavy siege pods. The Titan is said to represent the current limit of Chimeran ability to alter the human form, requiring multiple human bodies to create. Titans are dimension-ally smaller than Widowmakers but more massively built, and of similar size to the Angels.
LOADOUT
-Ranged Weapons:
--Stalker Siege Pod (See Stalker Profile)
-Flamethrower : A giant flamethrower, this essentially performs the same function that a flamethrower does.
-Melee: Titans are big enough to effortlessly rip a man limb from live. They can even use giant, massive objects (such as their flamethrowers) as clubs.
-Defense:
Originally Titans weren't known to have any form of body armor as their thick and calloused hides provided ample protection against attack. However, by the time of Operation Overstrike and much later in the invasion of America, most Titans have began to wear body armor. Their armor set includes gauntlets and a chest piece. Primarchs and Overseers wear some plating on their arms and a helmet similar to the ones worn by Steelheads.
-Special :
-- Brawler:
Brawlers are a new strain of Chimera that appears in Resistance 3. It has a hulking appearance and its movements are almost similar to a gorilla's, and are heavily armored. They are designed to serve as both anti-infantry and anti-armor. It appears to replace the Titan in Resistance 3 as the evolved strain of it.
--Weapon : Air Fuel Grenade Launcher:
The Brawler's primary attacks are fire-based; it possess guns on its wrists which fire a barrage of air fuel grenades(essentially incendiary grenades much more powerful then Molotov Cocktails), and uses its fists to smash the ground to create an area-effect blast of fire that damages everything around it.
Additional Factors:
-Chimeran Physiology, Ranking System, Coolants:
-- The Titan is in the process of getting replaced by the Brawler, and neither will be too common though not rare.

Despite its awesome power, the Brawler is compromised by its accelerated metabolism far outstrip from other Chimeran troops, requiring more cooling apparatus to sustain it. Name: Chameleon
Weapon Type: Claws
Armor Type: Cloaking Device
Max Range: Hand to Hand
Proffered Range: Same
Mobility: 6-7
Training : 6
Classification: Stealth Assassin
Basic Description:
The Chameleon is an extremely dangerous Chimeran strain which first appears in Resistance 2. What makes them so deadly is their ability to cloak, and become completely invisible Using their claws, they can approach a soldier head on and rip them apart with their claws.
The cloaking device is attached to the Chameleon's body, along with the traditional cooling unit. They move much in the same fashion as a bear would on all fours as they charge at their opponent lifting onto their hind feet, before finishing with a deathblow. Generally Chameleons only attack their victims from the players current field of vision, and adequate warning is given as the ground quakes during their charge.

Minibosses:
Below is a brief listing of creatures that, while they may not be singular are going to be very rare. Essentially these creatures are going to have a bare minimum reinforcement rate and will likely number only in the low hundreds initially.
Leviathan:
The Leviathan is a 300-foot tall Chimera. Only two Leviathans were ever reported. Described as the single-largest creature to have ever walked the earth, these bipedal creatures possess a large cooling device on their back. These things, often requiring the biomass of hundreds of bodies to produce, are extremely durable and tall enough to knock down buildings. They mostly attack through throwing debris, using their giant claws and viscous maw.
Mother Spinner:
The Mother Spinner is a Chimeran strain that appears only in Resistance 2. It is an enormous Spinner with more insect-like features, the ability to spit acid, viscous claws and has the ability to summon swarm of Leapers to attack the player.
The Mother:
An exceptionally large Siren, this is only going to appear if there is significant water on a planet. It uses sonic attacks and the ability to physically suck up soldiers in with its mouth (remember its underwater) .
Abomination:
"To all cells:
The thing we saw could only be described as an
Abomination. It was huge. And I mean huge. It made
a roaring sound as it came up out of the water and
crushed an army tank. We fired every weapon we had
but it kept coming. All we could do was run.
I wish I could tell you how to kill an Abomination but I
can't. All I can do is wish you good luck.
Never give up, and never give in."
Essentially a really large and nasty Chimera that can attack with its mouth, claws, and by stepping on things.
Executioner:
Executioners are bloated and enormous, with their head almost completely enveloped by their massive shoulders. They wear no armour, their bulky bodies apparently doing the job of physical armour. They are slow and lumbering, unable to do much more than walk towards the player's position. Their main feature is a massive, oversized right arm mounting a giant plasma cannon, which is both the creature's weapon and its weak point.
Impaler:
The Impaler stands high on two legs, appears to have a long dagger-like arm for its right arm. It has four hoof-like toes with bulky legs and muscles its left arm has a projectile on the top and three fingers. It has a great stature with a ferocious face with horns on top of its head. It also has two heat stacks on its back.
===HERO===
Jordan Shephard: Daedalus
Height: 5'9, 30 feet as Daedalus
Weight: Unknown
Age: 25
Type of Hero Bonus: Command
Classification: Converted Leader
Formerly a human named Jordan Shepard, Daedalus is a fairly large, brown, Angel-like creature that can float in the air (utilizing what can only be described as telekinetic levitation to achieve this). It is clearly visible where his old human body is, as it appears his brain has expanded enormously, and his human body has bent backwards onto it (his skull, ribcage, and upper-arms are all visible in the boss fight, and corpse).
Loadout
Ranged: See Special
Melee:
In close quarters Daedalus uses his tentacles, which he can use to impale or rip into pieces any human that is bold enough to get close to him.
Defense:
Special: Powers:
Daedalus has the ability to input his consciousness into any Chimera unit on the planet(even do so with multiple units at once), allowing him to directly take control of the situation without personal risk, as well as communicate with his army no matter where he is. He can use powerful mental blasts which can obliterate the minds of 11 soldiers at once, and barrage someone telepathically . Finally Shephard has learned Telekinesis and can attack someone that way.
Additional Factors:
--See Leader Profile
--Strong Belief in Chimera Superiority: Daedalus refuses to negotiate, as he believes the Chimera are the future and the rest of his opponents as meat.
--Communicates Telepathically.
--May have limited ability to see the Future.
Important Characters:
"Pure Chimera" :
The original Chimera species is not present in these battles directly, instead maintaining a sort of overall control over the parasite force that fights on their behalf. Won't have too much effect except for possible advice and the ability to talk telepathically to their underlings (perhaps even to a degree control). They also stop the battle from automatically ending if Daedalus is killed (though killing him WILL hurt the Chimera) as Daedalus is merely their servant, not their master.
===LIGHT CALVARY===
Hammer
Type of Armor: Light
Weapon Type: Energy Cannons/Missiles
Speed: 40 mph?
Calvary Purpose: Anti-infantry
Classification: Mech Walker
Basic Description:
The Hammer is armed with a pulse fire machine gun and energy missiles. Unlike its mechanical counterparts such as the Stalker and Goliath, the Hammer is notable for having only been built with two legs for increased mobility. Upon defeat the Hammer will self-destruct, though apparently some have managed to hijack it before this happens though.
LOADOUT:
Armament:
See Description
Additional Factors:
--The Hammer was being phased out after its appearance in Europe, so it will not be as common as it once was.
Marauder
Type of Armor: Organic
Weapon Type: Flamethrower
Speed: 40 mph?
Calvary Purpose: Anti-infantry
Classification: Flamethrower mounted Dinosaur
Basic Description:
The Marauder walks on only two legs and has no arms. A flamethrower like weapon has been installed in the creature to channel its flammable saliva for use in combat, this also causes a problem with the creature over-heating, and depends on a special cooling unit. This not only keeps it from over-heating, but also allows it to actually use its flamethrower. It can spit fireballs at long ranges.
LOADOUT:
Armament:
Mouth, Flamethrower (see description) and stomping
Defense: Some armor on the front and back of the creature, much more durable then ordinary Chimeran strains.
Special:
Additional Factors:
-Chimeran Physiology bonuses: See Hybrid, though vastly amped up due to its size.
--Coolant: See Hybrid
====ARMOR====
Widowmaker
Weapon Type: Explosive spit, Claws
Armor Type: Organic Body Armor
Speed: Low
Classification: Organic Tank
Basic Description:
The Widowmaker is nothing short of a walking battle tank and it's certainly bigger than one. It is easily one of the most damaging units seen in the Chimeran army .Widowmakers are spider-like creatures that make use of their barbed fore-talons to attack enemies though they have been observed to make use of explosive globules that they spew out in combat much like the Sapper. Human forces are known to suffer from a high rate of casualties when engaging these beasts. However, in addition to serving a heavy support role for the Chimera, the Widowmaker has been known to have a rallying effect on the other Chimeran strains. As such, the presence of a Widowmaker on the battlefield can turn the fortunes for the Chimera turning a defeat into a victory
LOADOUT:
Armament :
Their two main forms of attack comes from their spikey legs and what it spits out of its mouth. A second is a substance which isn't too dissimilar to that used by the XR-003 Sapper (essentially explosive orbs of spit) However in Resistance 3 this spit is described as both acidic and toxic. . It explodes when in a close proximity and can cause vast amounts of damage. It should also be noted that when a Widowmaker dies, it sprays this substance everywhere as a last-ditch attack. It can of course bite too.
Defense: Armored Body Structure, heightened durability.
Special:
For some odd reason, the Widowmaker's very presence raising the morale of all nearby Chimera troops, making them become more ferocious and fight harder.
Additional Factors:
--Chimeran Physiology: See Hybrid, though much more pronounced
--Coolant Packs:
Stalker
Weapon Type: Cannons
Armor Type: Power Shield, Armored vehicle
Speed: Slow
Classification: Heavy Weapons Platform
Basic Description:
The Stalker is a Chimeran mobile heavy weapons platform. These Chimeran vehicles are equipped with anti-aircraft autocannons, a missile pod and an anti-personnel gun. This allows a single Stalker to prevent any enemy air support on the battlefield. The machine's multi-legged locomotion also provides superior maneuverability over all forms of terrain.
LOADOUT:
Armament : Dual-mounted Anti-personnel Laser cannons, Hull mounted Missile pods (against ground and Air), and Anti-Air Auto-cannons The Laser cannons are what the Ravagers can choose to carry into battle manually. They are equipped with a laser targeting sight.
Defense: Stalkers have a tough exterior hull, though concentrated machine gun/assault Rifle fire can eventually get through. Recently Stalkers have become equipped with protective force-fields that would require either a lot of firepower or EMP weaponry to take down.
Special:
Additional Factors:
--Mufti-functional: As stated above, the Stalker is capable of dealing with personnel, vehicles and air.
--Droid: As of Resistance 2, the Stalker has been converted into a Drone/computer intelligence.
Goliath
Weapon Type: Various
Armor Type: Heavy Plating
Speed: Slow
Classification: Ultimate Chimera Vehicle
Basic Description:
A Goliath is a massive walking siege battery employed by the Chimera to assault fortified positions or cities. Each Goliath is approximately 150 feet tall, though they are 305 feet (93 metres) tall in Resistance 3. The former will be more common for this tournament, yet the massive 300 foot Gargentuan will also have a presence.
Goliaths makes use of concussion mortar batteries that soften up enemy opposition. Entire companies have broken under the mortar barrages of the Goliath, the human soldiers simply fleeing for their lives. This, however, only exposes them to the Goliath's most fearsome weapon, Spire missiles, which deliver Crawlers and Spinners that can infect thousands.
LOADOUT:
Armament :Concussion Mortar Batteries , Spire Missiles (see Crawler profile), High explosive Seeking Missiles (primarily anti-aircraft) : These massive constructs can incinerate entire Tank columns in seconds, and with the addition of the missiles now has a staple anti-air option.
Defense: Extremely well armored, requires some of the most powerful human weapons to destroy.
Special:
Additional Factors:
--Initially they seemed to have a exhaust port problem, though this seemed to be fixed by Resistance 3.
--Droid: See Stalker
Misc Armor/Artillery: Mortars:
A Chimeran Mortar is a weapon seen exclusively in Resistance: Fall of Man. It has the ability to bombard battlefields at an alarming rate. During Operation Shear just two Chimeran Mortars were enough to wipe out a whole task force leaving only Nathan Hale the sole survivor. They also appear to have the ability to take down a VTOL in mid-air.
===AIR COMBAT===
The Fleet
Type of Aircraft: Various
Fighter or Bomber? : Both
Weapon Type: Primarily Plasma
Armor Type: Unknown Material
Classification: Air Force
Basic Description:
The Chimeran Fleet was a massive, aerial armada, consisted of many large airborne airships, supported by hundreds of smaller fighters, dropships, and medium-sized ships of an unknown class; it was led by Daedalus's flagship. The fleet was the primary attack force that invaded the United States. Rather lazily they don't really bother to separate the different criteria.
The Fleet operated like a modern day naval fleet. There were multiple battleships, a command ship, and many smaller cruisers and destroyers. The Fleet is heavily armed and is equipped to carry a large invasion force, supported by heavy vehicles. The large battleships of the Fleet appear to also act as energy conduits in Daedalus's plan for the Chimeran towers.
Loadout:
Variants:
--Fighter:
These were the small ships seen during the San Francisco invasion and at Holar Tower darting all over the sky. They were compact, teardrop shaped craft with similar cockpit designs to Chimeran dropships (no apparent windows, single camera on front between spikes). They have crescent shaped wings that extend past the cockpit. They appear to have been able to equip air-to-ground and air-to-air plasma weaponry, as they performed a bombing run on the artillery gun in San Francisco. The rounds of the weapon also appear to have a residual flash, temporarily blinding Hale as they strike the gun. The weapon appears to be mounted on the under side of the craft. The fighters could easily take on modern day fighter planes, particularly the F-86 Sabre.Although more capable than their human-made counterparts, Chimeran pilots are referred to as "systematic" in their dog-fights, making them easily predictable.
--Hornet:
A one-man vehicle seen in Louisiana acquired by Joseph Capelli, the Hornet appears to be a low-altitude supply craft, carrying the fission bomb to the landing pad in the second-to-last level of Resistance 2. It is much simpler in design than other Chimeran craft, meaning that it was created early on in the invasion (when the Chimera were confined to Russia and hard-pressed for building material), or is rarely used. Apart from being unarmed, little else is known about it. If I had to guess I would say it can be used as recon.
--Cylinder Ships:
These vehicles are one of the unknown craft that surrounded the battleships. During the attempted invasion of the Liberty Defense Perimeter, one was struck and hit a battleship with enough force to push it into another battleship, implying that it contained a large amount of fuel. This could mean that it was either a "tanker", supplying fuel to other ships, or was equipped with enough fuel to go on long-range reconnaissance missions. Due to the skeletal appearance of the hull, either role is probable as it had no apparent bays, weapons, or capacity for any other purpose.
--Destroyer:
This is the craft that bears resemblance to a Bullseye. Its sleek, menacing appearance implies that it was an offensive craft, and, if viewed from the front, appeared to have several thin, pointed weapons. However, it also had an angular separation from the main body and tail, which could have been a hangar. It had four big spikes on the underside, although if they are aesthetic or were needed for propulsion is not known.
--Battleships:
These ships were huge constructs, dwarfing everything around them, and are as big as Chimeran Towers. They had big, empty, spherical holes with a glow emanating from inside, probably the reactor. When immobile, the ships were seen to have rings turning inside the empty hull that were blocked from view by the light from the reactor, possibly the anti-gravity system. The interior of the ships were a combination of large, open air spaces, claustrophobic corridors, and cathedral-esque rooms. The underside of the ships had a green, metallic look about them. They also had numerous spikes on the front around the reactor hole, used for directing the mysterious energy that encircled the planet to the flagship.
Their only known weapons were large spheres on either side of the prow, which were seen to fire enormous blasts of energy down into San Francisco. They were used to shuttle millions of Chimera across the oceans to invade America, and to act as conduits for the energy web produced by the Chimeran Tower network that encircled the world. They had built-in conversion centers and can hold hundreds of smaller crafts in their many hangars. Basically, they were mobile Chimeran Towers. The exact numbers are unknown, but there are numbered at least over twenty.
--Flagship:
This ship was basically the Hub Tower equivalent of the Chimeran Fleet. It was larger and had a taller "mast" than the other battleships. It also possess a spike on the underside that could have been used to communicate with the Chimeran Tower at the center of the Chicxulub Crater. It acted as a Tower beacon in this location, collecting the directed energy from the other ships and firing it into the sky. It was also Daedalus's base of operations.
Additional Factors:
-Some Ships in the fleet are capable of launching Spire Missiles
--Total Numbers will probably only be a few hundred at first, but with the capacity to build more.
Chimeran Dropship
Type of Aircraft: Dropship
Purpose of Aircraft: Transport
Classification: Drop/Gunship
Basic Description:
The Chimeran Dropship are a type of armed shuttle that provide transport and limited levels of close air support for Chimeran ground troops. Dropships are equipped with advanced propulsion units allow the craft to create a dramatic lift allowing them to be better armored than the human equivalent aircraft, such as the U/AV-17 Hawk.
Loadout:
Armament: They possess a powerful Plasma Cannon that they can use for both defense and strafing runs.
Defense: Unknown make, but heavy plated armor
Special/ Detailed Purpose: Their stated purpose is to transport squads of troops into battle, and they do this job well, though they can't carry in anything huge. They can do this by dropping box-shaped cylinders capable of holding multiple squads onto the battlefield.
Also there is Chimmeran shuttle that can be launched off batleships for transportation purposes, however this can carry less and has no weapons, so its not worth a full profile.
Additional Factors:
--The Dropship also has searchlights and boosters.
Terraformer:
Armor Type: Heavy Ship Plating
Type of Support: Changing the Weather
Classification: World-shaper
What Bonus do they give?: Makes a given planet colder over time, which is what the Chimera prefer.
Loadout:
Armament : It can use its unique abilities to create a hurricane or even shoot down a beam weapon that can level a whole town, sparing not even those underground. However this is NOT the ship/structure's main purpose and won't often be used as such.
Defense: Would be very heavily defended for a ship/building, take a lot of damage to destroy. Also likely turret/soldiers built into it though it does NOT seem to have ship-to-ship weaponry.
Special/Detailed Purpose: The Chimera like the Cold, and this machine aids them in cooling whatever planet they are on, allowing them to thrive as temperatures get colder and colder. Over a long term campaign this will be very useful to the Chimera, particularly if their foe likes warm weather. In fact overtime the opposing forces will actually begin to die from frostbite, food shortages causing by the weather changes destroying the environment, the effect of massive deadly blizzards or many other such winter related problems.
Additional Factors:
-- Potentially can be shot down by those able to reach the Terraformer's orbital position (which is something every faction should be able to do, reach the upper atmosphere or else they don't belong in this tournament).
-- Of course there won't be very many of these massive structures/aircraft, probably a handful at most. It will also take a long time for the Chimera to build another, however they can.
-- 10 Kilometers in length
-- 10 Kilometers in length
===SUPPORT===
Burrower
Armor Type: Unknown
Type of Support: Ambush/mobility
Classification:
What Bonus do they give?: Tunnels
A Burrower is an armored worm-like vehicle used by the Chimera to dig tunnels. It is also a transport capable of inserting Chimera directly into battle at a moment's notice. There is however controvery over what exactly it is. In Resistance: Fall of Man, the Burrower is described as a purely mechanical vehicle, while Resistance: Retribution states that it is a bio-mechanical creature composed partly of living tissue
Loadout:
Armament : It can use its "teeth" to hurt stuff in front of it. Also the game Resistance : Retribution has descriptions of it tunneling into an enemy bas and spewing forth toxic fumes.
Defense: Unknown, other then heavy vehicle armor
Special/Detailed Purpose:
Outside its combat duties, Burrowers are used to develop Chimeran infrastructure such as excavating buried Chimeran towers, and are primarily responsible for carving the network of tunnels throughout Britain to accommodate the Chimeran supply lines. These same tunnels are also used to protect the power conduits found near Chimeran structures. It is quite possible for them to be used offensively, digging under enemy positions and into enemy bunkers, whereupon they can spew forth poisonous gas.
Additional Factors:
-- Helps Supply routes a great bit when enemy dominates via Air.
Carriers:
Armor Type: Organic
Type of Support:
Classification:
What Bonus do they give?:
The Carriers' sole basic purpose is to gather and ferry captured humans (or whatever sentient it is dealing with) that are infected with the Chimeran virus to conversion centers where humans are converted and transformed into Chimera. Thus playing an important role by gathering the infected to amass Chimeran forces. Furthermore, the same infected people serve as the Carriers' food and, as such, not all the bodies survive to be converted. During the early Chimeran invasion of Britain, Carriers would form caravans that were hundreds of miles long.
Loadout:
Armament : None other then eating something
Defense: Unknown, though their armor protects them very well against bullets.
Special/Detailed Purpose: Carrying infected to conversion centers, for easier/faster/better conversion (however conversion can still be done on the field)
Additional Factors:
- Due to recent events, this unit will not be very common, as it is in a point where Human countermeasures came close to phasing it out. However given that no one in the tournament has discovered these countermeasures yet, production may not stop until they do.
Armor Type: None
Type of Support: Worker
Classification: Worker unit
What Bonus do they give?:
Menials are a strain of Chimera that are not intended for combat but rather the process of basic labor such as conversion. As such they are the worker caste of the Chimeran hierarchy. Interestingly enough these may have been the people initially infected by the Tunguska strike.
Loadout:
Armament : Claws, hitting people, Bite
Defense: None, other then Chimeran Durability, regen
Special/Detailed Purpose:
Menials are known to ignore other Chimera as they mindlessly continue their duties. Such a role makes them rarely seen in combat operations as they are unarmed as well as both sluggish and non-aggressive. It is they who work the conversion centers (most of the time).
Additional Factors:
Conversion Center
Type of Bonus :
Conversion centers are facilities widely used by the Chimera to speed up the process of converting Chimeran virus-infected humans and possibly other creatures into Chimera. Conversion centers are equipped to handle possibly hundreds of soon-to-be Chimera. The interior of a center is very much like an assembly line, with the newly created Chimera rapidly churned out. Infected victims are brought in by Carriers and any uninfected prisoners are kept in makeshift pens until Crawlers are dropped in to infect them. They are then given surgical implants, and placed into a network of tubes where the bodies undergo different stages of conversion. They are then wrapped in cocoons to accelerate the transformation and turn into a different Chimeran creature depending on the strain of the virus. In the birthing chamber, the cocoons are opened and new creatures are born. In the case of Hybrids and most other Chimera, it is here that the cooling units are forcefully attached to their backs.
As Spinners were introduced these buildings began to be phased out, as spinners were capable of doing what they did on site (though perhaps not as fast).
MISC: Earth Movers:
Finally they have giant Construction trucks for moving land, which will enable easier fleet/building construction.
====DEFENSE=====
While being more offensive then defensive, Chimeran can both mass produce and mass-place Turrets with ease, to the point where they can become a major issue for the enemy as in Operation Overstrike where British soldiers took heavy causalities from Chimera defense that recent intelligence told them wasn't there. .
Chimeran Anti-Aircraft Turret:
Type: Anti-Air
Self-explanatory:
Chimeran Anti-Aircraft (AA) guns (AAG) were created as a direct response to the fast moving fighter jets and VTOLs used by human military forces.Small and easy to place, they were placed on top of skyscrapers in the Chicago campaign. While they cannot fire at the ground, they can fire missiles or explosive projectiles at passing airplanes.
Chimeran gun tower
Type: Anti-Ground/Air
The Chimeran gun tower is a form of Chimeran technology that is used to protect the European coastline from invaders. Over the course of the two years that the Chimera had occupied Europe, they built several of these gun towers all over the northern coast of the continent, making any kind of aerial invasion impossible. These seem to fire the same missiles as the Anti-Aircraft guns, except they can be used against ground forces. Some speculate this might come from another alien race.
Hellfire Gun
Type: Anti-infantry
A Hellfire turret is a heavy automated, Chimeran anti-personal turret. It was designed as a replacement for the Chimeran Sentry Gun (possibly because of the fact that humans can use sentry guns against the Chimera). Instead of firing large slugs, it fires a continuous beam of energy that sets the targets on fire, and in rare cases completely vaporizes it.
Sentry Gun
Type: Anti-infantry
The Chimeran Sentry Gun is a fixed emplacement used by the Chimera to defend fortified and valued areas. Unlike the Hellfire it is a manned Tuerret that fires energized Fletchette.
Chimeran Mines
Type: Anti-infantry
The Chimeran mine comes in many variations. The primary component is an artificial metal hole dug into the ground. This hole has sensors that if triggered releases a small mine into the air, much like a Chimeran Hedgehog Grenade. They are of course very easy to make.
Three Types:
The Lancer mine is not so much of a mine as it is a small auto turret. It fires extremely long laser bolts, lending to it's name.
The Hedgehog mine, simply put, is a Hedgehog grenade with a much shorter detonation delay. Remember Grenades can also be turned into makeshift mines.
The Pulse Mine :
The Pulse mine will either fly high releasing a horizontal shock wave to decapitate an intruder, or remain low to cut off the intruder's legs, making these the most dangerous mines encountered in the games. It produces a spherical shock wave, but with a much shorter blast radius then most mines.
====LEADER PROFILE====
Name: Daedalus (Jordan Shephard)
Notable Battlefield Accomplishments:
The Daedalus's main accomplishments lie not on the battlefield, but in manipulating DNA and battlefield stratagem of the Chimera. It was he who fixed the weakness of having the Angels telepathically control everything, making his own Chain of Command System. When the enemy annihilated the Carrier strain, he replaced them with Spinners. It was he that conquered much of the United States via a two-pronged assault, overwhelmed South American and Africa, and reversed the gains the humans had made prior to his ascension.
Personality: (Describe both positive and negative)
Prior to becoming Daedalus, Jordan Shepherd was a taciturn and religious man. Despite his serene character, Shepherd has an innate feeling of intense anger and jealously due heavily to his abusive father during his traumatic childhood.
After becoming Daedalus, he is shown to have an appreciation of the Chimera and considers himself as a major part of a "great whole". Daedalus bears a strong dislike for the human race, and considers them as a sort of evolutionary dead end, due in part to their view that the Chimera are a "disease", and their refusal to recognize them (the Chimera) as "the evolution of man". He also refers to humans as "meat-things," "shadow-people," and other derogatory terms as well. However, despite his transformation into a Chimera, he still possessed his love for his wife, Hannah. U.S. President Grace used this to lure him into a trap.
*Command Designation: Overlord, Overall Chain Of Command
Overlord: An overlord type of commander has direct network control over the forces. The will of the commander is enacted through the troops that are all united in some form of psyche. Bug-related armies like the Arachnids and Zerg. Most often, troops can be directly controlled by the authority in question through the powerful mind of the commander. This statement is mostly true, though Daedalus put in a chain of command that can act entirely on his authority.
Daedalus is the absolute leader of the Chimera, superseded only by the mysterious Pure Chimera. However he did come up with a chain of command system listed in the profiles above.
Leader X-factors:
Adaptive Creativity/Resourcefulness 72/100:
I give him high marks here, given that he was able to radically evolve the Chimera and overcome enemy counter-attacks on individual strains.
Tactics: 54/100
Though he leads armies in person and does a good job at conquering countries, he is admittedly not to good at this. He got capture several times, each time only narrowly escaping. It was a tactical flaw that resulted in his death.
*Strategy: 65/100:
His overall plans are much better though, particularly in his overall invasion plans and how he adapts his troops for those invasions.
Intuition: 73/100:
Seems to have a limited ability to see the future.
* Audacity: 81/100:
Very bold with his troops and even with himself, leading troops personally into key battles.
Psychological Warfare: 50/100:
A few exclamations about the folly of resisting him, but admittedly not too good at this.
Intelligence: 61/100
Experience: 58/100 : Thanks in part to his ability to possess soldiers and live through their eyes.
Discipline: 68/100: Though initially he had rage issues and was distracted, he is still fairly dedicated to his task.
Leadership: 86/100: I don't think Daedalus's orders CAN be disobeyed.
Corruption: 67/100 Seeks only Genocide and wholesale destruction.
====ARMY PROFILE====
*Morale: 91/100 (94/100)
Chimera have never ever been known to retreat out panic, feel fear, or even hesitate as they entirely devoted to the cause. The only reason this initial rating isn't even higher is because apparently the very presence of Widowmaker can make them fight even harder
*Logistics: 77/100
Surprisingly
high, as Scorched Earth tactics are described as not working on them. Like the Necromrophs they need only bodies to spread and completely alter nearby environments to their liking.
*Espionage: 37/100:
From the moment they arrive on the planet the Chimera are going to be attacking over and over again, with little time for espionage.
Discipline: 71/100:
Not sure if the Chimera are capable of disobeying orders, though some have self-preservation instincts.
Overall Army Intimidation: 75/100
Such is the speed and ferocity of the Chimera assault that terror is known to spread uncontrollably through the civilian population , with despair to follow soon after. In the battle of Genoa Italian soldiers killed themselves rather then face the Chimera.
Misc x-factors:
Reinforcement rate: Low-Medium; High-Very High
The Chimera are only going to experience a medium rate of reinforcements from offworld, as they are only shown to possess one world though hinted to have many more. However gradually they will build up a massive reinforcement rate from quickly converting the populace of whatever planet they fight on.
Past Opponents:
For the past 60 million years the Pure Chimera have apparently fought a losing war with a super-advanced alien race, and it is mentioned in Retribution that they have conquered quite a few worlds . However not much specific information is known about them.
-Humans:
Over the course of 30 years the Chimera have grown from a small backwater nuisance to conquering the world, and indeed conquered all of Europe in 3-4 weeks. These humans wield a mixture of Cold War era weaponry and advanced experimental weapons that were adapted from Chimera weaponry. Though the humans eventually "won" (as the series ended with a wormhole destroyed but the Chimera still occupying most of the planet) all their major powers were conquered fairly easily within 4 years, with Europe falling within 2 months and the United States being conquered in around the same time after the main invasion force landed.
--Cloven :

--Cloven :
The Cloven are an unknown faction of Human/Chimera hybrids who were formerly human beings that were experimented with Pure Chimeran DNA by Dr. Fyodor Malikov; they are hostile to both humans and the Chimera. Somehow they act both more savagely and wield more advanced weaponry then the Chimera, showing that another race may have its hand on the planet.
Quantity vs. Quality: Quantity, Heavily. There whole battle policy is to convert as many people as possible as fast as possible.
====ADDITIONAL FACTORS====
--Chimeran Virus :
The Chimeran virus and its viral strains is strongly believed to have originated from some form of meteoroid which caused the Tunguska Event in June 1908. Though still unknown, the virus was precisely formed to attack the human genome when the virus was extraterrestrial in origin.
The Chimeran virus has a different form for every type of Chimera except certain strains such as the Widowmaker, which do not come from the virus. The larger Chimeran strains (such as the Titan) require more than one human host. Given that the Chimera are described as conquering multiple worlds and can adapt animals, it is entirely possible/probable that they can do so with other species, or at least re-adapt themselves too. Currently there are Four means for which the Chimera can convert people 1, Crawlers 2. Conversion Centers. 3. Spinners 4. Resistance trailer shows that eating something Chimera will result in infection and 5 and most recent (also not fully developed) biting. STANDARD Inoculations do not work in creating a vaccine (and will instead create murderous hybrids called the Cloven who are hostile to both those who made the inoculations and the Chimera), and it was only a very special anti-gen isolated from a very special soldier that one was able to be created (after 90 percent of humanity was dead or converted).
--Whether it is through orbital Terraforming or ground based devices (of which little is known, except that they have them as no orbital structures were recorded prior to the invasion of Europe), the Chimera constantly try to change climate of the planet they are fighting on to make it colder and more conductive to them. This will gradually make the Chimera become increasingly common, destroying local ecosystems and thus lowering enemy Logistical scores (well, for most of them).
--
The Chimera describe their species as being part of a "great whole"; in which lesser units serve the larger ones. In this ways Lesser variants will throw themselves away to save the better strains.
--The Chimera are an extremely adaptive species, adapting to everything from heat and leadership problems to agents designed to counteract certain strains. While a vaccine is possible it requires special circumstances. The death of Daedalus will not stop them, only hinder them.
- Hyper-Aggressive: From the very INSTANT the Chimera land on a planet they are going to be actively fighting, converting, and conquering. They will not waste much, if any, time on reconnaissance and will instead seek to Blitzkrieg everything around them to get the most results in as short amount of time as possible. While other races will be cautiously observing from afar the Chimera will be busy adding the entire planetary population to their ranks with massive conversion techniques such as the Spire Missiles.

===VICTORY GAINS===
--Infected Strains The Chimera are natural converters and they will gain mutated members of whatever species they conquer that will be a combination of both Chimeran and host DNA. They can do this in mass.
--Technological: Low: It is known that the Chimera do in fact seek other technology known as Grey Tech, and thus the case could be made that they would absorb other technology, but mostly they use Chimeran Weaponry.
-Biological: High, as Strains constantly evolve and replace old ones.
